General Manager, US Market
Multi-national fresh/frozen food trading and supplier company is seeking a General Manager for the US market. GM will "open the door and take the company to the center of the US food trade market" by building relationships with both buyers and sellers, as well as merchandisers and traders. Company has a platform to facilitate and broker trades, but also takes ownership of product, imports, exports, and delivers product. GM will build a team of 20 ranging from sales to QA to Supply Chain Managers. Responsible for risk management. Engage with customers and lead transactions and negotiations. Travel extensively. You will initially will operate out of a home office, then will relocate to the US headquarters that you will establish either in Los Angeles or New York. Prefer an advanced degree. 15 years of professional experience in the fresh and frozen food trade industry. Experience managing professional teams. Working with a multinational organization and managing customers on a regional basis. Understanding of the Agricultural product trading. Strong understanding of the trading industry and food market including logistics, import/export process, payment terms, customs. Adaptability to a new strategy in a fast-moving environment. Strong communication skills and ability to negotiate with the customers and transaction counterparts. Experience of living in several countries preferred. Must be able to communicate over 8 to 12-hour time zone differences. Salary is open.
